Yeah, I missed seeing you guys.

AAA should be very fun.

Wow, a tournament 2 days after the release. I look on my GPS however and do not find the location for this. Can you help us out? If it is anywheres close to Wisconsin we might drop in and test your metal Wink

Yopey,

I love your comment on the other "inferior" blog site about how someone in China messed up the colors or something! You are not very funny (sorry), but that had me rolling off my seat!!! lol!

Kinda bummed about the Nov.18 switch, but then again not really, it gives me a great Thanksgiving gaming weekend!!!

Sorry I haven't been able to make it out to your place- busy times. I would like to know if you guys will be playing during the X-mas break. Mine is a long one this year- 16 days!!! Let me know so I can write the date down on my calendar. I've been teaching a couple friends Europe and Pacific and it will make a nice transition into AA50 since we'll all be fairly new at it.

Boy, I hope Larry takes up the idea of making Revised Europe and Pacific. Idea

I also agree with you on the mechanics of the other games. They are nice and all (D-day, Bulge, and Guad.) but they play too differently than the base game in ways I don't prefer- to each his own though- a lot of people like them. I sold back D-day for this reason. I like playing all the great battles on one theater like Europe or Pacific and now the new AA50.

Hopefully I can see you guys late December- its been too long for sure!!! Very Happy

I don't think that I said anything about colors. That sounds more like pain-in-the-butt Imperious Leader. Rolling Eyes

I think that it is just a shipping snafu.

I will check with the guys as to the schedule.

I and my girls are going to Reno for Christmas (My mother and sister live out there) from 12/24-31, so it may screw things up. Maybe Friday, the second of January will work for you.

CONFIRMED PREORDERS ON OCTOBER 23RD!!!!!!!

Post by questioneer on Wed 15 Oct 2008, 18:27

HEY, SOME POSSIBLE GREAT NEWS!!!!

AFTER TALKING TO MY VENDOR, CHECKING THE STATUS OF MY ORDER AND HIM TALKING TO HIS DISTRIBUTOR. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE WILL BE AN INITIAL ORDER OF THE AA50 COMING OCTOBER 23RD!!! IT SEEMS THAT THE 2ND PRINTING WILL BE ON NOVEMBER 18TH (OFFICIAL RELEASE). SO THAT MEANS IF YOU PREORDERED THE GAME A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO (LIKE MYSELF), YOU WILL GET IT NEXT WEEK!!! VENDORS HAD TO BE RATIONED A CERTAIN AMOUNT BECAUSE DEMAND FOR THIS GAME WAS SO HIGH!!!

GOOD LUCK GUYS!!!

QUESTIONEER Very Happy

P.S. MY VENDOR SAYS THAT THE DISTRIBUTOR ONLY CALLS WHEN THEY RECIEVE FROM AVALONHILL THAT THE GAME IS CONFIRMED TO BE IN ON A CERTAIN DATE.

FALSE ALARM- SORRY GUYS

Post by questioneer on Fri 24 Oct 2008, 14:06

Just talked to my vendor and he said that his distributor came back and said there was a delay. Looks like we wait another month- this is great though because it should make a super gaming Thanksgiving weekend for me- family, turkey, football, Motor City Open (big money chess tourny here), and the new AA50!!!

Very Happy

Re: GEN CON Anniversary Game

Post by jerdnn on Wed 25 Feb 2009, 11:16

We have played about a dozen AE games (41 set-up, with bonuses/techs) and we have determined that Axis have a HUGE advantage with this set-up. America is very weak versus Japan and it takes VERY smart Russian play to win with Allies. I have turned germany back on only two occasions, the first using concentrated English threat (at the cost of british empire) and the second using hard-thought russian troop movement. No matter the strategy, America is totally useless in the pacific by turn 3, along with Japan taking Australia AND India on or before turn 3, if Japan is smart. We play this sort of game over and over, and the Allies can still win this sort of game... if they have several turns to stall and regroup. Tournament play however can't give Allies turns to stall. 42 set-up might be better, though we haven't tested this game. If 41 set-up is used, it might be better to discount bonuses, if only to counter-balance the huge axis advantage that we believe exists.
