2010 Spring Gathering VIII

Post by SwampHQ on Thu 07 Jan 2010, 13:01

OK guys, it is about time to start planning for this years weekend. At this time, I am shooting for having it on April 9 & 10th...

Also, it looks like it might have to be at Guardian Angels again due to on going construction at the CMC and the limited amount of space...

Your suggestions and comments are welcome...!

Thanks.
Greg

This is just a quick update regarding this years 2010 Spring Gathering VIII, in lovely Cincinnati, Ohio.

By popular demand, the Spring Gathering is now expanding. We are adding a list of non-AA games for the gamers
that would like to attend but are NOT Axis & Allies enthusiast. The Axis & Allies Spring Gathering is intended to be a family friendly event and we would very much like to accommodate the AA enthusiast family. Games such as Settlers of Cataan, Ticket to Ride, Revolution, & Dominion are just a few of the games I have been asked to add to the repertoire of games. We are actually not going to schedule specific games at this time but an event time for those interested in playing games of this nature to attend. If we get enough registrations for this event and/or for a specific game, we will add it to the event list but wanted to first see what kind of interest there was for those wanting to play games of this nature.

I would love to know your thoughts and or if you are interested in having specific games of this nature schedule
for this year and in the future.

Also, just to let you guys know, all the product door prizes are coming in and again, just like in the past, we will have tons of cool stuff to give away including a signed copy of the new Pacific 1940 game and the, out of print, Anniversary Edition game! (yes, WotC/AH has held back a few copies just for us, but when these are gone, they are gone and even though there are rumors of a reprint, my sources tell me differently.)

And last, we will be running one game of the AA 1940 World game. Some have asked how with Europe 1940 not being out yet (August/GEN CON). Well, I have the final play test rules and the board and will use these for a great long game, just what you guys wanted…not to mention, I need to see how long the game will last based on others playing for my GEN CON schedule…

Yeap, looking forward to it...and a reminder, unfortunetly due to cercumstances beyond my control, there will NOT be a AA1940 World Game played at the Spring Gathering. Since, Europe will not be in my possession at the time, I will NOT be able to run the event.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Peace,

Great Time at SGVIII

Post by BushidoBlitz on Sun 11 Apr 2010, 21:42

Hey ya Greg,

Had a great time at the Spring Gathering. Thanks for running it now eight years straight and for opening it up this year to non A&A players--Angie had a lot of fun, too!

I know this one day alone is a TON of work, and much more so is running the eight days of A&A events at the two cons each year. Thanks to your passion for the game and for the A&A community, I've been able to keep in touch with fellow fans and excellent players of the game three times a year for eight years now (of course you've been doing the cons for 17 years).

Nothing lasts forever, but for as long as you're able to continue and Wizards is supportive, I truly appreciate the opportunities you provide to play the game with a great bunch of guys.

Thanks,
Jeff

Wow...

Sorry to hear that ACME closed its doors. Was this a planned thing, or just out if the blue?

The location move may have had alot to do with it...

Thanks TO All!

Post by SwampHQ on Mon 03 May 2010, 08:09

Just a final thanks to all that attended the Spring Gathering VIII. I know it is a little late in getting this out but better late than never.

As I mentioned in an e-mail sent out last week, ORIGINS is fast approaching for all that plan on attending. I do not know how to register for events but one can go to the site or the ORIGINS Forum and find out what I am running...

Hope all are having a great spring.

Peace,
